Afro’d Out

Slowly you make your journey

You are not to be rushed!

Your journey is your own

A crown, you stand on top

A crown you gleam in oil and butter

A crown you tell of our past heritage

A breeze passes through you and is blessed

The scents of the forest

The scents of nature cling to your strands

Soft and supple you are

You can bend and take any form

But your best is one of curls abounding

Tinged in purple

Dyed blonde by the sun

Grown brown, many colours know you

So like a rose bush, flourish

Diligently I shall tend you

Feed you and love you in all your forms

For you are amazing

A precious part of me

A constant companion in the trials of life
