I’ve been avoiding getting into new groups as I have mentioned many times. However, it’s impossible not to know about XG. They have blown up recently and their songs honestly bang.
What interested me was that they are made up of mostly Japanese members but their songs are in English. I then found out that they are a global group so not necessarily JPop. That explained why they were promoting on Korean music shows, I was confused not gonna lie.
I love their loud fashion style and their bold music style. They’re not afraid to experiment and break boundaries, and they’re fun!
It’s so nice to see a girl group being bold, loud and unapologetically themselves. Their style musically varies that each time they come back they surprise me.
So I got to know them with Woke Up and it is a rap heavy song. Cocona shaving her head in the music video, the vampire grills, the raps! What a song, what a comeback!
Then the next song, Something Ain’t Right is vocal heavy and only one person, Harvey, raps! They flipped completely. It still sounds like them but in a totally different flavour.
They must have laced Something Ain’t Right with something. The way I had the song on a loop at one point. I love it! I’m addicted! If it doesn’t show up in my Spotify wrapped then it’s rigged.
Sometimes, you just want a pop classic, a song to dance to and vibe to. A song for summer!! Yes, it is a summer bop.
And their fashion, so off the wall and I love it! That plus the cool ways they style their hair! I love that Cocona still is rocking the bald style and she’s messing around with it. The colour, the way in the music video her eye make up lines up with the graphics on her head, so cool.
The music video is fun, they have powers and are causing havoc. I am with them 100%. Oh! I also love the dance. It’s different and I probably will learn it. Kiss of Life and XG are keeping me busy, giving me amazing dances to learn!
I love the lyrics too. They’re like, “who do you think you are?! You’re playing me?! You wish!” They’re saying all this in colourful outfits and so brightly and I think that’s more menacing. Or that it’s more of a statement, like you genuinely do not bother me to the point I can dance with my girls carefree.
I wonder what their next comeback will be like
