Look at the way I ride – The World Episode Fin. Will | Ateez

This is late coming I know. I have been on hiatus from blogging. It just happened without me planning it but I feel I needed it.  It’s hard to balance life sometimes and that is reflected in my blog.

Anyway, I have been going through Ateez’s discography. I have talked about Zero: Fever series, Treasure series and The World series up to Episode 2: Outlaw.

I wanted to do a separate post on the finale episode (or so they say, they could have an Epilogue) of The World series as it is the most recent.

It’s also their second long album after Treasure Ep. Fin: All to Action, so it’s special in that regard. We also got unit songs! They kept my January blues away with the MVs they released.

The album starts off with We Know. In the song they are talking to their antagonists, to the villain of the story. They’re like, “We’re going to be the bane of your existence, a thorn in your side because we know”.

“We are aware and can see behind your mask”. It’s like they have become the nightmare instead of the other way around. ‘I’m not trapped with you, you’re trapped with me’ vibes.

I like how the song ends on a rap and I love Jongho’s line/adlibs. Yunho and Yeosang swap lines seamlessly. I find that Ateez have similar voices or similar flavour voices so they’re able to blend together really well. Because of that they remind me of Infinite, as Infinite is also able to blend together into just Infinite.

I know, I make a lot of sense.

Emergency, the shot song. This song is perfect for a drinking game, if you want to get drunk fast.

In the song they’re like, “Yo ho let’s go crazy and turn this world upside down!” The party never ends as the revolution happens. You know how at the end of each One Piece arc there is a massive party? This song is perfect for that.

This song also fits perfectly with the end of Crazy Form’s MV where they’re drinking whisky and celebrating together.

They’re also asking who is going to join.

Mingi’s verse is reflective, it’s been five years in Ateez land too?

Crazy Form, the title track! I have bad news for you. I am always honest on this blog. I did not like this song. I’m sorry, it wasn’t my vibe and that’s fine. Honestly, it is. In kpop we need to be okay with saying when a song is not your vibe.

So, I’ll just look at the song objectively.

They are going to the moon, that’s the next stage of their plan? They’re going to meet Enel? I will never stop with my One Piece agenda, no.

The MV is basically a heist and they all have a part to play in the plan. Actually, all title tracks from The World have involved missions and splitting up, Guerilla, Bouncy and now Crazy Form.

In this MV they are trying to find their ship, or where they kept their ship. So, it’s been with them all along! They’re still pirates! They have the coolest ship. I do tease them for never being on water but I do love their ship.

The moon in the MV goes from a crescent moon to a full moon to a full red moon. Then Cromer breaks, again, and a blue bird flies off. They are free? Did they manage to escape Z land? I mean they are all together now.

To get your answers tune in for the next episode of Ateez Land!

I love how they’re spreading the word like they are in the lyrics of the song in the MV. They’re happier in this MV though, less burdened.

This MV has one of my favourite Yeosang looks. I love his green raccoon look (affectionate). I also loooove Seonghwa’s outfit in his scenes with San. He was serving!!

I do love Wooyoung’s booty moment and the ending of the song where they get hype. The beat there is so fun and I’ll never turn down getting hype.

Arriba, my main girl. She came to party and party we did. I can’t believe there are people who don’t like the skrr’s. Those are the cherry on top of the cake of this song. But hey we all have our own tastes. This is clearly mine. It’s funny though I usually hate excessive skrrs but they work in this song.

It is a song to be added to the twerk collection, I hope you’re taking notes.

In the song they talk about how the party is getting started or rather is fully underway and they are enjoying it. They are going crazy dancing the night away, the dirty night.

They’re free but also they’re not free?

Silver Light, I know Arriba is my girl… but Silver Light is my main bitch. I love her!

I love the crackling of electricity at the beginning of the song, how it passes from one headphone to the other. Oh that scratches a part of my brain.

I love Ateez songs where the light is the theme, see my love for Dazzling Light. This song is on theme with the light songs. They are finally getting that ray of light piercing through the darkness, the same light they’ve been talking about since the beginning.

The World series has been shrouded in darkness so this is the light that they desperately needed. They can finally fly again as the light gives them strength and courage.

Hongjoong references Desire in that he is willing to go blind. Wooyoung’s vocals are beautiful in the beginning, the song really suits him. In fact, in terms of vocals I think this is one of their most balanced songs, everyone gets their moment.

Hongjoong’s rap in this song has been added to my favourite Hongjoong raps list. It’s just so satisfying. I love the way it goes with the beat and feels like it’s falling.

There’s an interlude and then we go into Dreamy Day, another Hongjoong creation!

It is a beautiful chill song. Sometimes, I can’t tell if they’re in a dream or not, I think that’s the point though, as they don’t always know. It is light in tone this song.

The lyrics have the same theme as Illusion and Eternal Sunshine. They want to hold on to the beautiful memories and to the dream like moment.

All those peaceful vibes are slapped away with MATZ (Seonghwa and Hongjoong). Seonghwa did not come to play. Hongjoong was like let’s do a lil song and Seonghwa came with notes,  “I have a lot to say!”

Side bar: MATZ and the next three songs were either done entirely by the members or done mostly by the members, the lyrics that is. They got a chance to write out their own lyrics. For members outside of Hongjoong and Mingi it is a first.

It is a diss track, for anti-fans, sasaengs. The song sounds strong when you hear it and it is that strong when you look up the lyrics. MATZ come for their necks talking about airport fashion and sasaengs invading their privacy. One day I honestly hope they ban people from going to the airport and mobbing Ateez and other stars .

The MV also popped off. They were serving looks and attitude. I am disappointed that they didn’t burn at least one building down.

I love that Seonghwa got to pursue his dream of rapping, as he did audition with rap.

IT’s You (Yeosang, San, Wooyoung)… heh my hoe anthem.

I don’t care what you say this song is talking about sex. I mean, “Look at the way I ride, 흔들림 없지, vibe 24/7…” (resists urge to put Yeosang’s entire verse in here) come on now. Yeosang! I knew he had it in him but I was still surprised. He really went for it! And I am proud.

They say you resemble your bias… *self reflects*.

Then we have San grinding on the floor in the MV. Ay… heh

So yeah, they don’t want to stop till the break of dawn. Realistic Gift is about to make an appearance to bring reality where it’s not welcome. Listen, realistically, one cannot go till the break of dawn. I used to read romance books or listen to RnB songs and they’d be like yeah we gon bang all night long. Then I got older and found it’s all lies! Unless it’s lesbian sex but that’s a different story and I can’t fact check that.

Questioning stamina aside this song is great. I love it. It is my vibe, as you know, I love me some spice. I love me a hoe anthem. Ateez doesn’t do a lot of songs like this so I always enjoy when they bring the spice.

There was some people who were saying the song is about dancing… yeah sure, the same way Monsta X loves to sing about driving.

The MV though was surprisingly angsty. Alas, it seems we still are yet to get a sexy MV. It’s so funny because when I want something sexy they make it angsty and when I want something angsty I get a sexy dance!

I get that they are matching the MV to their lore buut I do wish they would have gone the Bouncy route where the MV matched the vibe of the song and yet still managed to stay on theme with the lore.

With this one the balance was off.

It was pretty in an artsy way though.

Youth, the song with Yunho and Mingi. The lyrics were not what I expected. I thought the song would be upbeat but it is angsty and reflective. They are reflective on their youth in a melancholy way. It is also hopeful and they mention wanting to spend life/time together.

The bridge ties the song together well as Mingi mentioned.

I love the dance, but with Mingi and Yunho I was never going to be disappointed  in that aspect. The MV matches the song and… it’s deep, it’s sombre but it’s also hopeful.

Everything, Jongho’s solo song. I thought it would be a ballad and it is a ballad! It suits him well, he gets to showcase his voice and it is soothing to listen to.

The MV was romantic and angsty, it fit the lyrics of the song well. We got to see Jongho flex his acting muscles again and he got a female lead! I wish kpop wasn’t so toxic to men and women talking/interacting, I would have liked to see more of the behind the scenes and her thoughts on the story but alas.

The song had me thinking about if Jongho sang a song for me, about me. I would never shut up, humble who? Although, I would want a happy song, this one is on the sad vibes. He fumbled the shorty. He’s singing about how she was his everything but regretfully he fumbled!

He’s then like wait, come back! You’re my everything! But she doesn’t come back so he sits in a burning room. The fire seems to be metaphorical, like we’re seeing inside his heart like Rengoku.

Sad times.

Then the outro rounds off the album nicely, keeping the soft vibes going.

So to round off the lore of The World series, it seems they have escaped Z land. They seem to be celebrating, they are no longer in despair as they were in Outlaw. However, they now also have a new goal, the moon. I wonder if I’m taking this too literally. We will see when I get the diary versions of the albums. No, I still do not have them. Truthfully I wrote all four posts on Ateez in one day but I’m scheduling them out one by one. Send good vibes for my back…. Ow… I need a good desk.

Anyhow if you’ve read my whole series of posts, thank you!

P.S.: oh yeah, what’s with the rabbit Mito? Is it to do with the moon because there are rabbits there? Is it a permanent character? How big of a role does it have?
