Something I love about Naruto is Might Duy and Might Guy. They didn’t touch me as a kid. I mean I liked Guy, who didn’t? But I wasn’t super into his character, I focused more on Lee.
But recently I’ve really connected to Guy and Duy. They went through so much. They had to endure a flawed ninja education system and they didn’t fit in, in society. By all means they should have been bitter and miserable or S Class criminals.
But no, they had the will of fire! They protected Konoha with their lives. They were passionate and kind. And why is that? The spirit of youth.
People say you have to grow up but Might Guy and Might Duy prove that you don’t. I don’t mean be immature but rather have the good qualities of youth. They’re positive and take criticism as support.
I feel like looking at them that’s the secret to living. You just have to be positive and to not let the haters get to you. Work hard and show them how awesome you are. Before anyone believes in you, you have to believe in yourself. When you meet someone better than you at something use that as inspiration!
That’s Might Duy’s teachings that he passed down to Might Guy and that Might Guy passed down to Rock Lee (and Rock Lee is passing down to Metal Lee).
If I ever have kids I’d like to teach them that. I know it’s easier said than done but honestly the things said to you as a child stick. With practice you can do anything so I believe my hypothetical kids would be able to be like them. To be positive and to have the spirit of Youth!
I also like how in Naruto there’s a clear journey. You see them struggle and get down only to be picked back up and to learn from their falls. That’s another lesson, learning to stand up when you fall.
I think I’ve learned from them that I need to surround myself with people who would pick me up when I fall. And that falling is not the end.
Anyway, that is all. Sorry that was disjointed.
Ciao for now!
