Book Rec for the Christian Reader

Hello again,

Welcome back. Today I shall be talking about this amazing book that I think all Christians looking for love should read.

Before I get stuck in I should say the best book to read as a Christian is the Bible. I highly recommend reading the bible for yourselves as there are a lot of people who will say things that have nothing to do with the Bible or God. And when you meet people like that you wonder where what they’re saying comes from. So read the Bible for yourselves, know your own book so that you can get to understand God for yourself and so that you can make up your own mind.

Okay, on with the recommendation.

My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade

This book my cousin gave to me as a present. My cousin and I would always worry about who we would end up with in the future. I would doubt God would find me anyone and my cousin had her own worries about her future husband. But then she found this book and it really helped to calm her and to erase her worries so she gave it to me.

I know there are Christian ladies who worry about their future husband and if he is ever going to show up. I would say read this book as this book clearly showed how God has His own timing and how His timing always works.

So the book is fictional, it’s about Kate Donovan who goes to help her nan (grandma) redecorate her house. The guy who does the job, Matt Jarreau, was a professional ice hockey player but due to tragedy in his life he quit and now he does construction and remodelling of houses.

He’s very closed off but she is determined to help him with his problems. By helping him she’s also helping herself as she too had her own struggles. As you can see from the title my girl is stubborn (something I can relate to).

It’s a beautiful book and really well written. It kind of lives off the verse:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

After reading the book, that verse was added to my list of favourites and my list of verses to live by as it really helped to ease my worries.

It’s emotional, funny and inspiring. It’s great for rainy day reading or for when you just want to curl up with a book. I had no trouble finishing it and it was realistic and I felt like a real person wrote it. With some Christian novels they can be a little too sunshine and roses that it doesn’t feel real, but with this one it’s grounded and really draws you in as the characters and the story feels real.

I hope you enjoy it,

happy reading!

Ps: you don’t have to be a Christian to read it. It’s a good book.

This is a repost as I have deleted my secondary site. I am slowing releasing the posts I liked from there here. It’d be much for me and you if I just dumped them here all at once.
