You know when you listen to a song but the words don’t fully sink in? This happened with Love Lifted Me. We would sing this song all the time at pathfinders and in church and it’s a great hymn. It’s fun and hearty and the kids love it.

But recently I was listening to the song as I was on praise team and I needed the lyrics of the hymn (it wasn’t in the hymnal). As I was listening to it be sung and reading the YouTube comments it struck me how amazing this song was.

The author is expressing how Love saved him/her and really brought him/her out of darkness. It reminded me of how powerful love is, especially God’s love. How in our time of need all we need is love to save us.

It’s like my eyes were opened and I’ll never sleep on this song again.
