So I was watching The Real and they had Tracee Ellis Ross on.
Side note: she’s so cool. I love her.
But anyway they had her on and she was talking about her woman in progress campaign. It’s a campaign that celebrates the bad as well as the good. I mean embracing the hard parts of our life journeys and accepting that it’s okay for things not to be perfect and most of the time those bumps help you grow. This made me think. It’s such an important conversation to have as, as women we think that we should have it all together when we hit adulthood and most of the time that is not the case. Then we feel like, “AHHHH! What do I do! I’ve failed!” But you haven’t.
It’s good to remind yourself that you are still a working progress. You will never stop learning, growing and evolving as a person. There will be bumps but they’ll help you grow. You’ll be like a phoenix, reborn from the fire!
For example, I thought I was done learning after university. Third year really drained me and I just wanted to do nothing at all. I wanted a job but I didn’t want to learn or stress myself out again. But after a while I got bored. My brain needed to be stimulated. That’s when I realised that learning and putting my brain through it’s power squats can be good, they can help me grow. So I put more effort into learning languages.
As women our potential is endless. We will go through some crap but it helps graft us. I have seen my friends go through it and succeed. I’ve also seen them go through it and struggle but without those trials they wouldn’t be the women they are today.
So to all the women out there. You don’t have to have it all together right now! Like CL said, take it one step at a time, one goal at a time, and before you know it you’ll have achieved so much.
Take pleasure in the small victories. Enjoy life and through your struggles you’ll discover strength! Don’t compare yourself to others and don’t worry so much about the future. As a christian I believe God will take care of you. Even if you don’t believe that I do and I believe you’ll be fine. You will make it, you will achieve what you wish and hope for.
Thanks Tracee for the awesome campaign!
Ciao!
Ps: this applies to men too.
