Best Movie Soundtracks Part Two

I’m back with part two!

Let’s dive in to more awesome movie soundtracks, because as you know I love music and I like movies 😀

(If you haven’t already check out part one for context)

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

In general I love this movie, it was great stylistically and the acting was good. I loved the story and the characters. But I also loved the soundtrack! The music fit each moment and was sometimes used to a comical effect, like the scene where he’s in the truck watching the boat chase (Che Vuole Questa Musica Stasera by Peppino Gagliardi).

I also like how they used music, the music would become loud at moments engulfing me and bringing me into the scene and the mood. It was powerful in that way. I like how they used music as a tool, like it was a character in the movie (if that makes sense).

The music really set the tone and the era. I felt like I was in the 60’s and that was down to the music not just the clothing and acting.

Freedom Writers

I have the soundtrack for this movie. It’s really good! It’s got a lot of solid hip hop classics. The songs all have a message that directly applies to the youth in the movie and the youth in society, I liked that.

The music also set the scene, into their world and life. Like when Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat) was used in the scene where the two girls, Eva and Sindy, were getting ready to go out. It really set the scene and showed you how they were similar even when insisting on division.

Freedom Writers is full of golden nuggets like that and it really reminded me how hip hop can be inspiring, warm and uplifting (e.g.: I Have a Dream by Common ft. Will. I. Am).

Fast and Furious

I like Fast and Furious movies for the fast cars and the banging soundtracks. If you need bumping music for your party go and check out a Fast and Furious soundtrack. The same goes to if you want music for a road trip. Of course as the movies are about racing they have the perfect driving music.

It also gives me my latinx music fix like yes! It’s the quickest way to get me to dance after Afrobeats and Kpop.

Whoever was in charge of the music needs a raise.

A Cinderella Story

This movie is from my childhood and there are songs in it that have stuck with me. Songs sang by Hilary Duff are included like Crash World (I like the chorus more in this one), Now You Know (an anthem for heartbreak – originally sang by Kara Dioguardi) and Our Lips Are Sealed (a cover featuring Haylie Duff). I don’t know about you but I love it when Hilary sings, her voice is smooth and sweet.

Then there’s the soundtrack where absolute gems are contained! Like: This Will Be (Natalie Cole), Sympathy (Goo Goo Dolls), Rescue Me (Fontella Bass), Friend (Kathlyn), Best Day of my Life (Robert D Palmer), Fallen (Mya) and my personal favourites Hear You Me (Jimmy Eat World) and I’ll Be (Edwin McCain).

This soundtrack was so well done that listening to any one of those songs sends to me a moment in the movie. I basically listed the whole soundtrack almost, that also shows how good it is, when you can listen to the whole thing.

Those are my favourite movie soundtracks part two, what are your favourites?

Stay tuned for part three!
